The fan does not need to be on to charge the batteries. The switch on the back turns the fan on or off. I would certainly recommend this item to anybody looking for a charging and cooling solution. We have been using this item since Christmas. It is nice combo unit that takes up very little space. The two included rechargeable batteries make this a very good value.

We let the initial charge go for 24 hours, and when we used the controllers, the charge lasted about 15 minutes. It does not work. This was a total waste of money. We got a wii for christmas, and went through batteries like water. I decided to buy a charger for the controllers, and I chose this one. We are back to using regular batteries.
The batteries dont last too much , In only a week a have to replace the recharge batteries for a normal ones.
This charging station is just what we needed. I recommend this product to any one it does the job, plus it comes with two batteries which is a plus in my book.The turbo fan keeps the game cool for those long tornament games with their cousins. I am a Grandfather and guardian of two Grandchildren.They are with me 24-7. We have games that take up to 4 players,this station along with the first one purchased does the trick.
